Cape and Island 10-June-2010

Report Date: Cape and Island 10-June-2010

The fishing on MVY is excellent!

We have consistent Stripers at all of the typical night hot spots: East Beach on Chappy, Dogfish Bar and anyplace you find rocks on the north shore, to mention a few. The flyrod advocates are having a ball. Nice sized Blues are making their daily appearance at Wasque with upper single digit weights common; East tide has been best, but they are in and out all day. Both surface lures and metal are producing there. There is lots of bait around-Blues are spitting up Butterfish; Squid can be caught at bend-in-the-road on State Beach at night. Just cast out your standard Sabiki rig or favorite Squid jig and you’re on!Reports from the Big Ditch are small Blues, some Bass at night with everybody waiting for the upcoming favorable tides. The Sea Bass has slowed in B. Bay, Fluke is still good.

Breachway B&T reports excellent Striper and Blues in their area of Charlestown, RI. The Fluke fishing is also very good as well as Sea Bass; Scup has slowed down somewhat.

Jeff at Powderhorn in Hyannis reports great Striper fishing in the Sandy Neck channel of Barnstable Harbor. Fish to 30 plus pounds ; live-lining Mackerel is the method of choice. Plenty of Mackerel around for bait. Cape Cod Bay loaded with Sand Eeels.

All I all, the fishing is really good and for the first time this season, it is consistent. Tight lines this weekend!!
